Abstract
This project follows on from earlier research into mixed-sector scholarly practice which focused on the scholarship of teaching and learning. This case study research shifts attention to Boyer’s ‘scholarship of application’(later known as ‘engagement’, often understood as ‘applied research’, and referred to in this report as ‘scholarly engagement’)as it is understood and practised in the higher education in TAFE context of three Victorian public mixed-sector institutions.Scholarly engagement has been judged by commentators and regulatory authorities to bea ‘natural fit’ for mixed-sector institutions because of their close ties with industry and the community.
