Abstract
The aim of this paper is to examine and evaluate hotel management perceptions of what the luxury hotel experience entails for guests in Melbourne, Australia. Melbourne is the second largest city in Australia and the true number of luxury hotels is hard to determine due to self-rating, and the various ways in which hotels are ranked. Within the next 2 to 3 years, the luxury market will grow exponentially with various high-end brands entering the market. An interpretivist approach was adopted to examine and evalluate managements' perspectives on how the luxury hotel experience in Melbourne, Australia is co-created. Qualitative methods of data collection were undertaken utilising semi-structured interviews. The research explores what elements are currently essential in co-creating the luxury hotel experience in Melbourne and what may have to change to stay competitive in the future.
