Abstract

The aim of this research is to assess the relationship between team performance and team role diversity in higher education students. Participants of the study are currently enrolled in Higher Education studies across tourism, hospitality, culinary, and events degrees. This study follows the progress of a three-part learning assessment in which students are presented with three industry-based ‘problems’. The study comprises of students across three tutorial groups, two of which are face-to-face and the final being online, allowing for further comparative analysis between the two teaching categories. The methodology includes the collection of four data sets in the form of peer feedback (quantitative), student reflections (qualitative), Self-Perception Inventory results (quantitative) and assessment results (quantitative). The aim of this research is to surmise the main components necessary in creating a successful team within a higher education course.
