Abstract
This study attempts to investigate the hotel employees' experiences with quarantine programs and their motivations for the practice of continuing to work in the hotel industry. Semi-structured interviews of 11 full-time quarantine hotel employees in Australia showed five work motivation factors to promote during a crisis and post-pandemic. Our study sheds new light on the underlying employee motivation strategies and human resources management practices that hotel organisations should consider adopting to optimise employees' motivations during highly disruptive and uncertain times to lower their intention to leave the job and the hotel industry.
